Breaking the Mould in Gold Processing

When you think of gold, you generally think of a 2 stage crushing and screening circuit.

But every deposit is different. This operation in Western Australia’s Mid-West isn’t crushing fresh hard rock. It’s processing ancient river sediments that have been weathering for millions of years so instead of following the traditional path, the customer put a Striker HQR1112 impact crusher to work.

It’s not a setup you see every day in the processing of gold ore, but it’s delivering exactly what they were chasing.

The impact crusher is producing a clean, consistent feed for the downstream gold recovery circuit, allowing the plant to process significantly more material without changing the overall process. The result from the Striker impactor has been a more than 300% increase in production.

It’s a good reminder that there’s no one-size-fits-all solution in mining. Just because something has always been done a certain way doesn’t mean it’s the best option for every application.

At Striker, we take the time to understand the material before recommending a solution. In this case, an impact crusher made more sense than a jaw or cone crusher, and the results speak for themselves.

That’s what we do at Striker. We won’t sell or hire a machine unless we genuinely believe it’s the right fit for the application. Every operation is different, and our job is to understand the material, the process and the outcome you’re chasing before recommending a solution.

We design and build machines that perform and are easy to maintain in the real world because we want our customers coming back for the right reasons. Seeing an operation become more productive by finding a better way to do things is what drives us. That’s the part of the job we enjoy most, finding the solution!
